Baby it's cold outside!

Samuel: "It's cold outside"
Me (checking weather): "it's 75*"
Samuel: "But we're used to 100*"
Conan: "Is it going to snow?"

A Rose By Any Other Name...

Conan: "Why do you have to take a shower EVERY day?"

Me: "Because I get stinky every day."

Conan: "You don't smell stinky when I smell you!"

Thanking God that he didn't inherit his daddy's super smelling power...

Oh, and I LOVE him!!!

Ah! Crudhopper!

As far as I know, I made up the word, "crudhopper".  It is my go to exclamation when something gets messed up in some way.

Conan now uses this word frequently.

I am so proud.

What 3 Year Old Says That???

Conan was building towers out of blocks, when they all fell down.

Conan: "Ah, man! I was going to stabilize it, but I didn't do it yet. I'll build another one and make it more stable."

-------

Conan was grabbing at specks of dust floating through the air. When I asked him what he was doing, he responded, "I am catching dust particles so they don't get stuck in my skull."

--------

Cuddling with me at night: "Mom, don't squeeze me too tight. I'm fragile."

---------

He is certainly on his way to having a large vocabulary.

Pretty Close

Conan was supposed to be taking a nap with Mommy. Suddenly, he sat up and yelled, "It's time to get up, Mom! Look at the clock on your safe. It's fifty o'clock! It's time to get up! It's fifty o' clock, Mom!"

I took this a minute late, but I am pretty sure my three year old is a genius.

Better Ask Your Mom!

As our adult Developmentally Delayed clients were leaving, Conan waved and shouted:

"Bye! See you next Tuesday! If it's okay with your mom, see you next Tuesday!"

Love him!

Devotions

Mommy: "Who wants to tell what happened in today's story?"

Conan: "ME!!!"

Mommy: "Okay, go."

Conan: "The man cut his head off and fed pigs, then went home and ate a lot of food."

That's one way to tell the story of the Prodigal Son.

Luke 15:23-24

And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

10 Minutes

One of my favorite things that happens often now at naptime is this conversation:

Mommy: "Naptime in ten minutes, Conan."

Conan holds up ten fingers.

Conan: "How about FIVE minutes."

Mommy: "Five minutes? Okay."

Conan: "Yeshhhh!"

He is convinced he has a big victory every day. I don't feel like correcting him.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Conan came running upstairs yelling, "It's beautiful!"

Mommy: "What's beautiful?"

Conan: "You are!"

And that's why I keep him around.

New Toothbrush

Samuel (showing off all his teeth): " How do they look? Our new toothbrush cleans really well! It has rubber bristles on the side to really clean in between our teeth good! What do you think?"

Mommy: "Very nice! They look very clean."

Conan (showing off all of his teeth): "How do my teeth look?"

Mommy: "They look really white! Good job!"

Conan (still showing off his teeth): "I haven't brushed them yet."

Oh.

Big Kid

Mommy: "Ariana please pray."

Ariana: "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Mom, Dad, Honor, Connor, and baby Conan..."

Conan (barely audible): "I'm not a baby, I'm a big kid."

Just to be clear, you know, in case God wasn't sure which Conan she was talking about.

Marital Bliss

A little girl at church handed me a book about the 12 Days of Christmas, while I was in the nursery, then promptly sat on my lap. When I got to the 5th day, the following conversation occurred:

Little girl: "I want to be a wedding girl."

Conan: "I want to be a wedding girl too!"

Little girl: "You can't be a wedding girl! You have to be...a...a prince."

There you have it. Conan is royalty. You may call him, Your Majesty from here on out...

Potty Training Woes

Conan has been potty training. He is doing an excellent job, so when he has an accident he gets pretty upset. Which leads to some funny remarks. Like this one:

"Oh no! I'm leaking! I'm leaking!"

Food

Daddy: "Mmmmm...eat those boogers!"

Conan smiles and nods.

Daddy (jokingly): "Can I have one?"

Conan: "Nah...it's my food."

Well that will save on the grocery budget..."

Yummy Dinner

I made scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast wraps for dinner this evening. Everyone began eating right away, with several exclamations of, "Mmmmm! Bacon!"

Conan wasn't quite as thrilled.

"Ewww! Get this dead mouse out of here!"

It took a few minutes to convince him that the "dead mouse" was, in fact, only bacon. I'm not quite that adventurous with my meal planning...

Knock Knock

Conan has been enjoying telling knock knock jokes lately. They all end exactly the same way and thus are super hilarious.

Conan: "Knock Knock"

Honor: "Who's there?"

Conan: "Kangaroos"

Honor: "Kangaroos who?"

Conan: "No. Cars."

Honor: "Okay. Cars who?"

Conan: "Cars with people in it, with you, and mom, and dad, and Samuel, and Ariana, and Connor in it."

Honor stares at him blankly.

Conan: "That's a funny joke."

And because he says it in a way that pretty much commands us to laugh at him, we do. Because he's hilarious.

Unicorns

Conan is all about unicorns lately. When I tuck him in at night, he often shushes me because, "the unicorns are sleeping."  Occasionally he will ask me to tuck in the unicorns along with his stuffed animals. At naptime, I read him a story and the unicorns listen in.

Today, at breakfast, we had this conversation:

Conan: "Where do unicorns live?"

Mommy: "I'm not sure, but I think they live in the sky."

Conan: "I think they live in the zoo."

Mommy: "In the zoo?"

Conan: "Yes. In the zoo with all the other animals..."

And because he is a boy...

Conan: "and they poop rainbows at the zoo with the other animals that poop at the zoo."

Okay.

Don't Fall

Conan was standing on a chair.

Mommy: "You should probably sit on your bottom. I don't want you to fall and crack your head open."

Because he's a boy...

Conan: "Or I will crack open my butt."

Mommy: "Your butt already has a crack in it."

Conan starts rubbing his bottom with a confused look on his face.

Conan: "Hey! There is no crack in my bottom!"

Maybe that's why I can't get him potty trained...

He's Only Three

Conan: "Mom, put barbies in Chuck the Truck. PLEASE."

Mommy: "No. Chuck the Truck works just fine. It doesn't need any batteries. In fact, it was humming just a few minutes ago. Do you know what humming is?"

Conan: "I don't want to talk about humming, Mom."

Mommy: "Oh. What do you want to talk about?"

Conan: "I want to talk about money, be-pause I want to talk about cars. When I grow up, I want to drive cars. And you will drive cars with me."

Yeah. He's three. And he's a boy.

Construction Vehicles

It took me a while to figure out what Conan kept yelling excitedly from the back seat.

Conan: "Mom! There's another mister! That's a really big mister! Let's count the misters!"

A few minutes later..

Conan: "There's a es-ca-va-tor, Mom! And there's another mister!"

Oh. An excavator and a cement mixer. I was wondering why he was getting so excited about all the men on the side of the road.
