Mommy Dates and Car Washes

Samuel earned a much-anticipated Mommy date, so Daddy worked from home this afternoon so that I could take him out. For Mommy dates, I consider the child's personality and choose the location appropriately.  Samuel loves bowling, cars, arcades, and buffets so I searched for something that matched that description and decided on Amazing Jakes, which has a buffet, bowling, bumper cars, some rides, a race track, and an arcade. What kid wouldn't love it?

Normally I let the kids at least choose the restaurant where we eat lunch, but Samuel was a trooper and just trusted that I would take him somewhere he liked. Who could go wrong with a pizza/macaroni buffet?

When we pulled into the parking lot, the first thing Samuel noticed was the large car wash.

Samuel: "Whoa! What a huge car wash!"

Mommy: "Yep! I knew you liked cars, so I talked to Daddy and he agreed the car wash would be perfect for your Mommy date."

Samuel: "Yeah! And we could go to lunch afterwards!"

I kept driving and parked in front of Amazing Jakes.

Mommy: "I thought I'd park here and then we could walk over and watch other cars come out of the car wash."

Samuel: "COOL!!!"

Mommy: "Or maybe we could just go in this place and spend the whole day here?"

Samuel: "I remember this place!  They have pizza and macaroni!  AWESOME!!!!"

And thus the car wash was forgotten in the newfound excitement of carb overload...but I love that my sweet boy only cares that he spends his day with Mommy on his Mommy date.  He was determined to have fun no matter what we did.

Man I love that boy!!!

"If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:11-13 NKJV)
