As my mind drifted down numerous trails of thought this evening, it landed on one that gave me pause: I almost aborted my firstborn.
Of course, it would have been accidental on my part. They called it a D&C procedure and it was merely to get my cycle going again since my pregnancy test had come back negative. They took my blood, just to be on the safe side, but they were pretty sure I wasn't pregnant. Good thing that blood test came back "questionable". Good thing I am horrible about filling prescriptions.
Good thing God had a plan for Honor's life--and that plan included me being allowed to raise her.
It also didn't occur to me at the time, that I should have any other response to the news that I was actually pregnant other than pure joy. It is sad to think back on the nurses' reactions to my bliss. Surprise. They were surprised that I was thrilled. It happened so rarely, they said. Most women were melancholy at best when informed of their new addition. They actually called other nurses into the room to share in my joy. They were so happy for me.
My daughter made their day even before she was born.
So thankful for God's gracious gift of Honor.
Random thought now over.
