Water Bottles

I went to bed very thirsty last night. I then proceeded to dream about large, 1/2 gallon-sized, water bottles. They were on sale at our local grocery store one for five dollars or four for six dollars. So I had to get eight because that was too good of a deal to pass up.

I woke up angry that I don't actually have any water bottles.

Darn, realistic dreams.

Grandma's Worst Nightmare...

It was a normal evening: the dinner was in the oven, I was washing dishes by hand in the sink (using our $900 dishwasher as a drying rack because, apparently, they need to put computers in dishwashers nowadays and you can't expect them to last longer than a year), Honor and the boys were watching tv, and Ariana was outside with the animals.

Ariana loves animals.  The smaller the better. She often brings in caterpillars, jumping spiders, lizards, and any other critter that is slow enough to allow itself to be caught.

The door opened and Ariana ran in to show me her newest captive.

"Look Mom!  I caught a little b..."

She tripped over a chair leg and I barely had time to duck before a sparrow flew at my head. The poor, terrified creature continued its flight around the kitchen and landed on top of the pantry.

We all stared in shock for a  moment before I gathered my wits and called for reinforcements. "Ariana, go out to the shop and ask Daddy if he has a net."

He didn't...but he is tall, and he has a coat. 10 minutes after chasing it around the living room and kitchen, he finally cornered it and returned it to the outside world. I am ashamed to admit that I spent much of that time ducking under the island in the kitchen...

Ariana's response to the chaos: "what's the big deal?  She can't hurt you...she's only a sweet little bird!"

I haven't laughed so hard in ages.
